Night Of Stars

2013/2014 Prize Giving

It was truly a Night Of The Stars during the Prize Giving event 2013/2014.  The talented Gert Zandberg provided entertainment for the evening.  We came, We conquered, We walked away with the prizes.  Sparkle, glamour and lights were filling the room – made every person proud to be a Tygerberg Raceway Member.

We had a busy year behind us and we stand proud as a club after 2013/2014 season, looking back at our achievements.

We started by obtaining the rights for DirtOval4SA.  This enabled us to reward our drivers with National recognition for their achievements.

We had our 1st National Event and awarded the winners with SA1, SA2 and SA3.  Six of our members then went to represent DO4SA / Tygerberg Raceway at the MSA SA National Awards 2013 in Johannesburg.  As true ambassadors, they arrived in very classy black suits.

In February we had our 1st International Event, in the 2.1 and Hotrod classes.  This was a battle between SA, UK and Namibia.  Or shall we say a battle between UK and Namibia – as the SA team took almost all the podium stands.

Again we took on the next challenge… all packed and ready for the PE Nationals 2014.  After that we took on Big Hole Raceway at Kimberly.  By now the family ties were strong. The club operated as one big family...not just drivers, but also spectators joining for the love of it.

And then there are the silent warriors.  The ticket sellers, the flagmen, the scorers, the scruiteneers, the track workers  etc. recognition were given to each and every person contributing to successful race meetings.

The following drivers were awarded a 1st, 2nd or 3rd award for the 2013/2014 season:

The V8 boys surprised us with a special award to Louw Bosch and their mate, Duanne Prinsloo. What a great thought! Hopefully we will have more class surprises at the next prize giving.

Best Prepared Car Trophy was a headache. Visual, Mechanical, attendance and DNF, was a few criteria points taken in consideration. Well done to RANIEL KOEGELENBERG, who not only matched all criteria, but also does all his own car preparation.

HAN-KOCH BRAND was awarded the Most Improved Driver trophy. The club is fortunate to have young talent climbing the ladder to success.

Everywhere in life, there is always a UNDERCOVER CHAMPION.  An extraordinary person that’s always giving and never expecting. We awarded Bobby Ray, as he is a true “undercover champion”, always striving to make a difference! We are proud to have him as Tygerberg Raceway member!

The Marshall / Official Award were given to the BRANT Family.  Deon Serfontein of Goeie Hoop Onderdele sponsored T shirts for the family.  Being a marshal is not only about waving a flag, but being a very important linkage in the chain during an event. As Nicky said, the driver really trusts these marshals with their lives. Thank you for your commitment and dedication.

All the special award trophies were sponsored and made by Japie form Union Signs. Thank you Japie, we appreciate.

Nicky also has his own award, The Chairman’s award. This was given to Leone Mostert for dedication to the club and sport and going the extra mile. Thank you Leone, your efforts does not go unnoticed.

And then the crème de la crème award…  The SPORTMAN of the YEAR  Award.  Here a few factors were taken into account: Passion for the sport, helping others, representing the club, promoting motorsport, attitude and dedication and asset to the club.  This was awarded to no other than DUANE PRINSLOO!
